Broken People Blog #4: Jalon

We’re getting down to the wire!  Just 1 day left to fuel Banks Nelson:  Going for Broke for Broken People!  Will we make it?  I don’t know…  I say we can do it.

Here are some thoughts from our newest project fueler, Jalon, a self-proclaimed music junkie and filmmaker from Dallas, Texas.

1. The new Banks Nelson record is about broken people. What do you think of when you hear the word “broken”? What images come to mind?

When I hear broken, I think of something pushed further then its original intent. Further than its capacity weight. Chairs being overused, electronics overworked…people having to deal with situations that far exceed their mental and emotional capacity. It is then when they are left to be just what they were meant to be. A chair, electronic…a person. Not working, not doing…just waiting to be fixed.

2. How do music and art help to mend the broken things around you?

Music is everything. I’m such a music nerd. Broken, fixed, happy, sad…music is where it’s at. But having said that…I do believe songs, photographs, films…lines in films hit you in times you really need it. Either to let you know you’re not alone in your time of brokenness…or to help you start to put the pieces back together….that is also depending on what you listen to. “(You’ve Got) The Right Stuff” can only help you so far…haha…

3. What would you say to people who are on the fence about supporting a crowdfunding project such as Broken People?

What’s there to be on the fence about? The next generation, when asked what they want to do when they grow up, says “famous”. Then there’s the ways they’re not afraid to go to get here…it’s astonishing! What we have here is someone who loves to make music…and we can help. Now if you were asking for us to fuel your way to fame…we’d be having a different conversation! ;o)

Great thoughts, Jalon.  Looking forward to sending your rewards to you when the project is finished!
